Upon a users choice, it would share jokes and facts, manage downloads. In response, the internet turned into an advertising ecosystem, with pop-up ads taking over browsers. BonziBuddy was a freeware desktop virtual assistant created by Joe and Jay Bonzi. At the same time, new users were flocking to the internet without any idea what was safe to click on and download.
